Lidl Launches Major Hiring Drive Ahead of Bosnia Store Openings

Lidl Bosnia and Herzegovina has launched its largest recruitment campaign to date, with plans to hire more than 1,000 workers in logistics and retail as it prepares to open stores across the country.

The recruitment campaign will take place in two phases and cover more than 20 cities and municipalities.

Faruk Kovač, Lidl Bosnia’s head of corporate affairs, said the company intends to add more than 1,000 employees to its existing workforce of approximately 400. He described the campaign as the company’s largest hiring initiative so far, but said it would not be the last.

The first phase focuses on logistics. Applications for 125 warehouse positions at Lidl’s logistics center in Lepenica are open from Aug. 1 through Sept. 6.

The second phase will focus on retail. Applications for more than 1,000 store employees will be accepted from Aug. 15 through Sept. 30.

Positions will be available in Sarajevo, Mostar, Gradiška, Modriča, Doboj, Laktaši, Banja Luka, Bihać, Gračanica, Brčko, Bijeljina, Zvornik, Zenica, Travnik, Kakanj, Livno, Čapljina, Vogošća, East Sarajevo, Kiseljak and Tešanj.

New employees will receive training, while their starting dates will be coordinated with the schedule for opening Lidl stores.

Because of the company’s operating model, store employees will not be assigned to only one type of work. Their responsibilities may include operating cash registers, working in the bakery, assisting customers and stocking merchandise.

Previous retail experience is not required. Applicants must have completed high school and demonstrate motivation and a willingness to learn.

Lidl said employees in both retail and logistics will receive two days off per week, salaries above the market average, paid overtime and a secure working environment.

The company said its goal is not only to create jobs but also to offer employees long-term stability, professional development and the opportunity to help build its operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina from the beginning.
