Air Serbia has reached a new milestone after carrying 616,479 passengers during August 2026, marking the strongest monthly result in the airline’s history. The record includes both scheduled and charter traffic and represents a 10 percent increase compared with August last year. The result comes during one of the busiest periods of the year for air travel, when demand for flights across Europe and international destinations traditionally rises. The record also highlights the continued expansion of Serbia’s national airline and its growing role in connecting passengers from the region with destinations around the world.
During August alone, Air Serbia operated 5,743 flights from airports in Belgrade, Niš and Kraljevo, serving more than 100 destinations across Europe, the Mediterranean, North America, Asia and Africa. The airline’s network has continued to expand as it adds routes and increases frequencies on popular services. Air Serbia CEO Jiří Marek said the record reflects the work of the company’s employees, improvements in service and the strength of its destination network. He also pointed to the airline’s loyalty program as another factor encouraging passengers to continue choosing Air Serbia for their travels.
The strong August performance has also pushed Air Serbia to a record result for the first eight months of the year. From January through August, the airline transported 3,263,915 passengers in scheduled and charter operations, its best result for the first eight months of any year. During the same period, it operated 34,641 flights, five percent more than during the corresponding period last year. The average cabin load factor reached 83.6 percent in August, while the figure for the January to August period stood at 77.1 percent, showing that the growth in passenger numbers has been accompanied by strong demand for available seats.
Air Serbia is already preparing for further growth before the end of 2026. The company plans to introduce direct flights from Belgrade to Tenerife and Seville, while new services from Niš to Vienna and Malta are also planned. Frequencies to destinations in Montenegro are expected to increase as the airline responds to growing passenger demand. With more than 3.2 million passengers already carried this year and a record monthly performance in August, Air Serbia is now targeting what could become its strongest year ever in terms of passenger numbers.
