The National Convention on the European Union in Macedonia is holding its 75th dialogue session, bringing together government officials, diplomats, legal experts and civil society representatives to discuss the country’s European path.
The session at the Club of Deputies focuses on the contribution of structured dialogue to Macedonia’s EU integration process, particularly reforms connected to the rule of law, security and the fight against corruption.
Three panel discussions will address several of the most important chapters in the EU accession process.
Ministers and Diplomats Open EU Integration Dialogue
Opening remarks are expected from Interior Minister Panče Toškovski and Justice Minister Jeton Shaqiri.
Slovak Ambassador Iveta Hricová and Jitka Ivančiková, executive director of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association, are also scheduled to address participants.
During the opening session, the Interior Ministry and the European Movement in Macedonia will sign a memorandum of cooperation.
The European Movement serves as the organizer of the National Convention on the European Union in Macedonia.
Representatives of state institutions, diplomats, prosecutors, judges, university professors, experts and civil society organizations are participating in the discussions.
Macedonia EU Integration Dialogue Includes Three Panels
The first panel focuses on Judiciary and Fundamental Rights, covered by Chapter 23 of the EU accession framework.
Participants will discuss reforms related to judicial independence, fundamental rights and the effectiveness of institutions responsible for upholding the rule of law.
The second panel addresses Justice, Freedom and Security under Chapter 24.
This area includes cooperation on internal security, migration, border management, organized crime and other issues connected to the EU’s justice and home affairs policies.
The third panel centers on the fight against corruption, with particular attention to Chapters 5, 18 and 32.
These chapters cover public procurement, statistics and financial control—areas considered important for strengthening accountability, transparency and institutional oversight.
The dialogue session is intended to strengthen cooperation between state institutions and civil society while keeping key reforms at the center of Macedonia’s EU integration process.
