Interest in Serbia’s national soccer team appears to have reached a new low after only a few thousand fans attended the team’s latest international match.
The Nations League opener between Serbia and Greece attracted exactly 5,701 spectators to Rajko Mitić Stadium in Belgrade, according to figures reported by Sport Klub.
Serbia vs. Greece Attendance Raises Concerns
The surprisingly low Serbia vs. Greece attendance highlighted the declining interest among Serbian supporters in their national team.
Despite playing at the country’s largest stadium, Serbia performed in front of thousands of empty seats as it opened its Nations League campaign against Greece.
The official attendance figure provides another indication of the growing distance between the national team and its domestic fan base.
