Balkan music legend Tereza Kesovija is in the hospital after experiencing heart problems. The health issue forced her to postpone two concerts in Zagreb.
The 87-year-old Croatian singer planned to perform at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall on October 3 and 4. However, her doctors advised her to rest and focus on her recovery.
Kesovija shared the news with her fans on social media.
“My dears, I know how much we were all looking forward to the upcoming concerts at Lisinski. But due to unexpected cardiac problems and the explicit advice of my medical team, I have to postpone our meeting,” she wrote.
She added that she now needs to “listen to her heart” and give it time to recover.
Kesovija also thanked her fans for their love, understanding and support.
“I will do everything I can to recover as soon as possible so that we can make up for all of this and sing together again, louder than ever. I love you all, your Tereza,” she wrote.
Tereza Kesovija is not in life-threatening condition
According to Croatian newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija, doctors are working to stabilize Kesovija’s condition.
A friend and associate of the singer told the newspaper that she is not in life-threatening condition.
“She is not in life-threatening condition, but she needs to be stabilized,” the source said.
The source also explained that doctors did not admit Kesovija to the hospital simply as a precaution. She experienced cardiac problems that required medical care.
The concerts at Lisinski will not take place on October 3 and 4. Organizers have not yet announced new dates.
