Serbia Drops to 44th in FIFA Rankings, Lowest Position Since 2017

The Serbia national football team has suffered another decline in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, dropping four places to 44th following the most recent international break. FIFA published its latest men’s ranking on October 7, 2026.

The latest drop represents Serbia’s lowest FIFA ranking since 2017. In October 2017, Serbia was ranked 36th, although its position fluctuated significantly during that year.

Serbia had been ranked 40th in the previous ranking, meaning the national team has now fallen four positions.

The decline comes after a difficult period for the national team, which has struggled to maintain the position it held in previous years. Serbia reached 21st place in October 2022, but has since steadily slipped down the FIFA rankings.

The latest ranking adds further pressure on the Serbian national team and coach Veljko Paunović, as the “Eagles” look to improve their results and restore Serbia’s position among Europe’s stronger national teams.
