The Serbian community in Canada will come together for a charity folklore night in Mississauga, Ontario, on October 24. The event will raise funds for Serbian children and families facing financial hardship in the Balkans.
The humanitarian organization Serbs for Serbs Canada will host the event, called Folklor iz Bloka 2026, at the Serbian Centre.
The evening will begin at 7 p.m. at 2520 Dixie Road in Mississauga. Admission costs CAD 30, and the event is open to people aged 16 and older.
Traditional Serbian Dancing for a Good Cause
Guests will have the chance to learn traditional Serbian folk dances. Live music will follow the dance activities.
Organizers will also offer food, drinks and T-shirts for purchase during the evening.
The event combines Serbian cultural traditions with fundraising efforts. It also gives community members an opportunity to support families in need in their ancestral homeland.
According to the organizers, proceeds will help Serbian children and families living in difficult financial conditions across the Balkans.
Serbs for Serbs Canada Supports Families in Need
Serbs for Serbs Canada is a registered Canadian charity that supports families with children in the Balkans.
The organization focuses on helping families become more financially independent. Its projects include home repairs and assistance with basic household needs.
Rather than giving money directly to families, the charity funds goods and services based on their needs.
The upcoming folklore night is another opportunity for the Serbian community in Canada to contribute to these efforts.
Those interested in attending can purchase tickets through the event’s official CanadaHelps page. People who cannot attend can also make a donation.
