Skopje, Belgrade and Sarajevo Strengthen Regional Ties at Centar Municipality’s 50th Anniversary

The Mayor of Skopje’s Centar Municipality, Goran Gerasimovski, welcomed delegations from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of celebrations marking the municipality’s 50th anniversary.

The visiting delegations were led by Radoslav Marjanović, Mayor of Belgrade’s Stari Grad Municipality, and Srđan Mandić, Mayor of Sarajevo’s Centar Municipality.

The meeting brought together representatives of three central municipalities from the capitals of the region to discuss friendship, partnership and opportunities for stronger cooperation in culture, sports, youth exchanges and urban development.

Gerasimovski emphasized that the visit was primarily focused on exchanging experiences and strengthening cooperation between the three municipalities.

“We discussed a number of issues and the similar challenges our municipalities face, with the goal of bringing them closer to European standards in all areas – from municipal services to social welfare, education and everyday services for citizens. We placed particular emphasis on youth, cultural and sports cooperation, but also discussed smart cities and modern urban development concepts,” Gerasimovski said.

Centar Municipality has maintained cooperation with municipalities across the region for years, seeking to develop joint projects that benefit residents while enriching cultural and sporting life.

The anniversary gathering provided another opportunity to strengthen regional connections and explore new initiatives between Skopje, Belgrade and Sarajevo.
