European basketball stars dominated the NBA spotlight on Wednesday night, November 4, as Nikola Jokic recorded another triple-double, Luka Doncic scored 40 points and Victor Wembanyama delivered a historic performance with 52 points and 24 rebounds.
All three players helped their teams secure victories, with Wembanyama producing the night’s most extraordinary individual display in San Antonio’s dramatic 112-111 win over the Dallas Mavericks.
Jokic and Doncic Lead Their Teams to Victory
Serbian superstar Nikola Jokic continued his impressive start to the season, recording 32 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists as the Denver Nuggets defeated the Toronto Raptors 128-109.
The three-time NBA MVP registered his third triple-double of the season and the 201st of his career.
Denver trailed 67-64 at halftime before completely turning the game around in the third quarter, outscoring Toronto 41-15.
Jokic helped the Nuggets establish a commanding advantage and did not need to return for the final quarter.
Meanwhile, Slovenian star Luka Doncic delivered another outstanding offensive performance for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Doncic finished with 40 points, nine rebounds and seven assists as the Lakers defeated the Sacramento Kings 116-103.
His performance once again highlighted his importance to Los Angeles, with the Slovenian guard leading the team’s offense throughout the game.
Wembanyama Delivers Historic 52-Point Performance
Despite the impressive performances from Jokic and Doncic, Victor Wembanyama stole the headlines with one of the most remarkable games of his NBA career.
The French center scored a career-high 52 points, grabbed 24 rebounds and recorded eight blocks as the San Antonio Spurs narrowly defeated the Dallas Mavericks 112-111.
Wembanyama had already accumulated 29 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks by halftime, becoming the first player in the NBA’s play-by-play era to record at least 25 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks in a single half.
The game remained undecided until the final seconds.
With the score tied at 111, Wembanyama converted a crucial free throw with 24.2 seconds remaining.
Dallas had one final opportunity to secure the victory, but Kyrie Irving missed a contested jumper, allowing San Antonio to celebrate its sixth consecutive win.
The performances of Jokic, Doncic and Wembanyama once again demonstrated the enormous influence of European players in the NBA, with the Serbian and Slovenian stars continuing to play leading roles for two of the league’s most prominent franchises.
