North Macedonia Launches Award Call to Honor Diaspora Contributions

North Macedonia, through the civic initiative Macedonia2025 in cooperation with the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, has issued an open call for nominations for the Recognition for Contribution by Members of the Diaspora. The award aims to publicly acknowledge outstanding individuals from the Macedonian diaspora who have made significant contributions to the country’s development, culture, economy or society. Nominations are being accepted until 15 March 2026, providing an opportunity for citizens, organizations and institutions at home and abroad to put forward candidates whose efforts reflect dedication to their homeland.

The Recognition for Contribution by Members of the Diaspora was established to honor individuals of Macedonian origin – whether or not they hold Macedonian citizenship – who have given selflessly to support and uplift North Macedonia in diverse areas such as philanthropy, community service, education, investment, cultural promotion, and social impact. This initiative reflects a broader effort to express gratitude for the diaspora’s role in national progress and international engagement.

Individuals eligible for nomination include ethnic Macedonians living abroad, regardless of birthplace or current nationality, whose work has positively influenced the Republic of North Macedonia. Nominations may be submitted by Macedonian or foreign citizens, public institutions, civil society organizations, and diaspora groups. Submissions are accepted in either Macedonian or English and must follow the prescribed nomination form available through the official Macedonia2025 channels.
