Donald Trump: Those without fuel due to the Strait of Hormuz can “take it themselves” or buy it from the US

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, sparked reactions with a sharp message to countries facing fuel shortages caused by disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes.

In a post on social media, Trump suggested that nations struggling to secure aviation fuel should either purchase it directly from the US or “go there and take it themselves,” in a remark widely interpreted as provocative amid rising tensions involving Iran. He specifically referenced the United Kingdom, criticizing its stance and urging allies to “learn to fight for themselves.”

Trump further claimed that Iran has been “devastated” and that the most difficult phase of the conflict is already over, adding that the US may reconsider its role as a global security backstop.

In a separate message, the US president also targeted France, accusing it of blocking military-related flights headed toward Israel from crossing its airspace. He described France’s position as hesitant and warned that Washington would “remember” such actions.

The statements come at a time of heightened geopolitical strain, with energy security and military alignments once again at the center of international debate.
