Promotion of the Biography “Football Under the Shadow” Dedicated to Macedonian Football Legend Vasil Ringov

The biographical book “Football Under the Shadow”, dedicated to legendary Macedonian footballer Vasil Ringov, authored by journalist Srđan Ivanović, will be officially promoted on April 17 at the “Literatura.mk” bookstore in Diamond Mall, Skopje, starting at 20:00.

The publication is being released posthumously, only a few months after Ringov’s death, although he was actively involved in its creation. The date of the promotion coincides with what would have been his birthday, adding symbolic significance to the event.

Ars Libris published the book as part of Ars Lamina—Publications, and the author, editor Bisera Bendevska, and Ringov’s son, Mario Ringov, will present it. They are expected to share personal reflections on both the creation of the book and the life and legacy of the football icon.

Written in a direct and personal tone, the work narrates Ringov’s life and sporting journey in the first person, offering an authentic account of his experiences. It goes beyond his football achievements, providing insight into his personal challenges, thoughts, and values that shaped him both as an athlete and as an individual.

Ringov is widely regarded as one of the most significant footballers in Macedonian and former Yugoslav football history, closely associated with the successes of FK Vardar. Throughout his career, he played over 200 matches for the club and scored 93 goals, leaving a lasting legacy during the 1980s.

Born on April 17, 1955, in Strumica, Ringov began his career at FK Belasica, had a brief stint at Partizan, and rose to prominence at Teteks before achieving his greatest success with Vardar. He also had short spells abroad, including appearances for Dinamo Zagreb and Eintracht Braunschweig. He passed away on December 23, 2025, in Skopje at the age of 70.

The book is expected to be available soon in major bookstores across the country and online.
