Macedonia is entering the final stage of rebuilding its diplomatic network, with institutions working to fill vacant ambassadorial and consular posts abroad, Foreign Minister Timcho Mucunski said.
According to Mucunski, some of the proposed candidates have already received government approval, while others are still going through the standard diplomatic process. He noted that the names of the candidates will not be disclosed at this stage, explaining that the procedure remains confidential because of its sensitive nature.
Requests for agrément have already been sent for all nominees, the minister said. Responses have been received for some candidates, while others are still pending, which he described as a normal part of international diplomatic practice.
Mucunski added that, alongside the new appointments, several current ambassadors are also reaching the end of their mandates. Despite that, he said the goal is to secure full staffing of the country’s diplomatic and consular missions in the near future.
He stressed that completing the process would help ensure a stable and functional diplomatic presence abroad, allowing the country to respond more effectively to foreign policy priorities and international challenges.
