Novak Djokovic says he remains confident about being ready for Roland Garros, offering an encouraging update as he continues to recover from injury.
The Serbian star confirmed that he will miss the Madrid Masters because of the setback, while leaving open the possibility of returning in Rome if his rehabilitation progresses well. For now, his focus is on training and rebuilding fitness, with any decision on his next appearance depending on how his recovery develops in the coming days.
Djokovic said his goal is to be prepared for Rome, but stressed that his condition will determine whether that happens. At the same time, he made clear that he expects to be fit in time for the French Open.
Reflecting on his recent career highlights, Djokovic also pointed to his Olympic gold medal in Paris as one of the defining moments of his journey in tennis. He singled out the final against Carlos Alcaraz as a match that will remain especially meaningful in his memory.
Despite the physical demands of the tour and the challenges that come with experience and age, Djokovic signaled that his ambitions remain high. Among his longer-term goals, he identified the 2028 Summer Olympics as a major target, which would mark his sixth appearance at the Games.
He underlined that competing at the Olympics carries a unique value, not only because of the sporting prestige but also because of the chance to represent his country on one of the biggest global stages alongside thousands of elite athletes.
