Trump Says Iran Conflict Has No Fixed End Date as Ceasefire Remains in Place

US President Donald Trump said the current confrontation with Iran does not have a defined timeline, signaling that Washington is not rushing either the military standoff or the diplomatic track.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that there is “no time frame” for when the conflict could end and insisted that his decisions are not being shaped by domestic political calculations. He rejected claims that the approaching midterm elections are influencing his handling of the crisis, saying the administration’s focus remains on securing what he described as a strong outcome for the United States.

Trump also made clear that there is no immediate deadline for the ceasefire he extended on Tuesday, nor for the launch of a new round of talks. His comments suggest that the White House is prepared to keep the current arrangement in place while waiting for a clearer response from Tehran.

At the same time, the US president said the naval blockade targeting Iranian ports will continue, even as the ceasefire remains active. He did not offer any indication of when that measure might be lifted, underscoring continued pressure on Iran to present a unified position if negotiations are to resume.

The latest remarks come as uncertainty persists over the diplomatic process. Reports indicate that US officials have yet to receive a substantive response from Iranian counterparts, adding to doubts over when or whether talks will move forward.

With the conflict now stretching beyond earlier expectations, Trump’s message points to a strategy centered on sustained pressure, open-ended timing and a wait for Tehran to decide its next move.
