The United States has reportedly introduced Ukrainian counter-drone technology at a major air base in Saudi Arabia as part of efforts to strengthen defenses against the growing threat of unmanned serial attacks in the region.
According to reports citing sources familiar with the matter, the system has been installed at Prince Sultan Air Base, a strategic US military site located near an area of heightened tension linked to Iran. The platform in question is said to be Ukraine’s Sky Map, a tool designed to improve the detection, tracking, and coordination of responses to aerial threats.
The system has reportedly been integrated into existing American early-warning infrastructure at the base, allowing radar and sensor data to be displayed through a shared operational map. The aim is to give military personnel a clearer real-time picture of incoming drone activity and improve reaction speed.
The same reports say Ukrainian military specialists were sent to assist with training US personnel in the use of the platform. The technology, developed by Ukrainian engineers with ties to the country’s defense sector, is based on a network of sensors capable of identifying drone movement and sound, including models commonly used in regional conflicts.
Alongside this platform, additional counter-drone tools are also said to be undergoing testing at the base. However, according to the cited sources, some of the initial trials revealed technical difficulties and incidents during operation.
The move points to expanding military cooperation in the field of drone defense, at a time when unmanned systems are playing an increasingly central role in security planning across the Middle East.
