Montenegro Opens €60 Million Energy Efficiency Tender for Public Schools

Montenegro’s Ministry of Energy and Mining has launched an international public call for companies interested in carrying out energy efficiency works in public educational institutions.

The tender is part of the project “Improving Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings – Greening Public Infrastructure in Montenegro”, aimed at modernising public facilities and reducing energy consumption across the country.

The call creates an opportunity for construction, installation and energy companies from the wider region, including Macedonia, to participate in a major international tender supported by Germany’s development bank KfW. Macedonian companies with experience in energy renovation, heating systems, insulation, façade works and energy management solutions may also apply.

The project includes comprehensive energy upgrades of selected schools in Montenegro. Planned works include thermal insulation of building envelopes, replacement of exterior windows and doors, modernisation of heating systems and installation of advanced systems for monitoring and managing energy use.

The investment is financed through a combination of KfW loan funds, European Union grants and co-financing from Montenegro’s state budget.

The total value of the project is estimated at €60 million, making it one of the more significant public infrastructure and green transition projects currently open in the region.
