Bosnia Students Earn Honors at World Informatics Olympiad

The Bosnia Informatics Olympiad team earned a bronze medal and an honorable mention at a global competition featuring 386 contestants from 97 countries. Adnan Osmić won the bronze medal, while Mirza Bušatlić received the honorable mention.

Farah Demirović and Faruk Demirović also represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at this year’s Olympiad.

Minister Praises Students’ Knowledge and Talent

Naida Hota-Muminović, Sarajevo Canton’s minister of education, said the results reflect the knowledge, hard work and talent of the country’s young people.

She highlighted the continued success of young Bosnian computer science students at major international competitions. Hota-Muminović also stressed the importance of providing support and opportunities for students to learn from leading experts and demonstrate their skills globally.

The minister congratulated the contestants, along with the mentors, teachers and families who supported their achievements.

International Success Continues

The latest results extend a strong series of performances by the Bosnia Informatics Olympiad team.

During 2025, Bosnian contestants competed at international events in Germany, Romania, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Italy and Cyprus. They earned one gold medal, four bronze medals and several honorable mentions.

The success continued in 2026, when Bosnia and Herzegovina won a silver medal at the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics in Italy.

A national team also represented the country at the European Junior Olympiad in Informatics in Lithuania.

The Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Education said its support helps young computer science students compete internationally, gain valuable experience and represent their country on the world stage.

The ministry also thanked the Informatics Olympiads Association and the Institute for the Development of Pre-University Education for supporting young technology talents.
