The Kylian Mbappé-Nikola Katić incident overshadowed Real Madrid’s 3-0 friendly victory in Gelsenkirchen after the French star struck the Bosnian defender from behind. The referee showed Mbappé a yellow card.
The exhibition game was organized to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Schalke’s stadium.
Clash Erupts Before Halftime
The confrontation occurred shortly before the end of the first half. Mbappé attempted to beat Katić with a skillful dribble, but the defender calmly dispossessed him.
Footage recorded from the stands showed Mbappé approaching Katić and striking him from behind following the challenge.
Mbappé then continued arguing with the referee before receiving a yellow card.

Katić, a Bosnia and Herzegovina international, played the entire first half of the friendly.
