MZT Skopje Aerodrom has added another experienced name to its roster ahead of the new season, signing Serbian point guard Tadija Tadić to strengthen the team’s backcourt. The 27 year old guard arrives with considerable experience from across the region and will take on an important role as one of the players responsible for organizing MZT’s offense. The move also brings a familiar face back to Macedonia, as Tadić previously played for Kumanovo and already has experience competing in the country. Tadić was born in Zemun, Serbia, in 1999 and began his professional career with Partizan Belgrade. He was part of the Serbian club from 2017 to 2019 and was on the team that won the Serbian Cup in 2018. Although his time with Partizan came early in his professional career, it gave him an important start at one of the most recognized basketball clubs in the region. His career later took him to Mladost Zemun, Sloboda Užice, Zlatibor, Dynamic, Hungarian club DEAC, Kumanovo and Sutjeska, allowing him to gain experience in several different basketball environments.
One of the biggest achievements of Tadić’s career came with Zlatibor in 2022, when the team won the ABA 2 League championship. His connection with the regional competition is particularly relevant for MZT, which is preparing to compete in the ABA 2 League again. Tadić has already played against MZT during his career, and the ABA League records show his involvement in several regional games, including appearances against the Skopje club. His experience in the competition could therefore be valuable as MZT looks to compete on both the domestic and regional stages. Tadić has also represented Serbia at youth level and was part of the Serbian under 18 team that won the European championship in 2017. At 194 centimeters tall, he brings both size and experience to the point guard position, while his previous seasons in Serbia, Hungary, Macedonia and Montenegro have given him a broad understanding of the style of basketball played across the region. His return to Macedonia also gives him some familiarity with the domestic game after his previous spell with Kumanovo.
His arrival is another step in MZT Skopje Aerodrom’s effort to build a competitive roster for the upcoming season. Interestingly, Tadić is expected to make his ABA 2 League debut for MZT against another former club, Sloboda Užice, adding an unusual connection to his first appearance in the regional competition with his new team. With his previous experience in the ABA 2 League, Serbian basketball and the Macedonian league, MZT will hope the new point guard can bring stability, organization and experience to the team’s offense.
