Serbian students won three medals at the 19th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics in Vietnam. The team secured one silver and two bronze medals at the international competition in Hanoi.

The 2026 Olympiad took place from September 25 to October 5. Vietnam hosted the competition for the first time, bringing together hundreds of young astronomy and astrophysics students from around the world.

Pavle Ignjatović won the silver medal for Serbia. Vasilije Hadži-Purić and Dušan Lazić each earned bronze medals. Luka Ristić also received an Honourable Mention.

Serbian Students Win Medals in Global Competition

Dušan Lazić is a former student of Gimnazija Kraljevo. His bronze medal adds another international achievement to his record.

In 2025, Lazić also represented Serbia at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics in Mumbai. Serbia won five medals at that competition.

Another former Gimnazija Kraljevo student, Nemanja Obradović, represented Serbia at this year’s Olympiad in Vietnam. The school congratulated both former students for their participation and results.

The Serbian team competed against students from dozens of countries and territories. Participants tested their knowledge and skills across astronomy and astrophysics.
