Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked US President Donald Trump on Sunday, October 18, for endorsing him ahead of Israel’s parliamentary election. Netanyahu praised Trump’s leadership and their cooperation against Iran.
In an English-language video posted on X, Netanyahu described Trump as a strong ally of Israel. He praised the American president’s clarity, consistency, conviction and courage.
Netanyahu said the United States, Israel and the Jewish people were fortunate to have Trump in the White House.
The exchange came just nine days before Israel’s October 27 election. Voters will choose 120 members of the Knesset, Israel’s parliament.
Netanyahu Praises Trump and Warns About Iran
Netanyahu used his video message to address American voters as well as Trump.
He warned that Iran’s nuclear ambitions could threaten global security and energy markets.
The Israeli prime minister argued that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons would protect American interests.
He also claimed that gas prices would fall if Iran’s current government disappeared. That prediction reflects Netanyahu’s political position, not an established economic outcome.
Netanyahu thanked Trump for supporting Israel during its confrontation with Iran.
He also described Trump as Israel’s strongest friend in the White House.
In a separate post on X, Netanyahu thanked the president for their cooperation.
“Together we will complete the mission!” he wrote.
Trump Gives Netanyahu Full Support Before October 27 Vote
Trump announced his endorsement on Truth Social earlier on Sunday.
He praised Netanyahu’s leadership and described him as a close partner in confronting Iran.
Trump offered his complete support for Netanyahu’s bid to remain prime minister.
The American president also warned that a change in Israeli leadership could complicate US efforts against Iran.
His announcement followed months of uncertainty about whether he would publicly back Netanyahu.
The two leaders have maintained close political ties, but disagreements over Iran and Gaza have strained their relationship.
Netanyahu faces criticism at home over Israel’s security policies and the consequences of regional conflicts.
The October 27 election will be Israel’s first national vote since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
Israeli voters will elect a new Knesset. Political parties will then seek to form a governing coalition.
Trump’s endorsement adds an international dimension to the campaign. Its effect on the election remains uncertain.
