A Serbian-Bosnian comedy is bringing Balkan humor to American audiences this November. Večeras smo sami (Tonight We Are Alone) will take the stage in Chicago on November 20 and New York City on November 22.

The play stars Serbian actress Nataša Aksentijević and actor Semir Gicić. Together, they tell a funny story about marriage, love and cultural differences.

Director Ivan Vujović brings the story to life through humor and familiar situations. The comedy also offers Balkan communities in America a chance to enjoy theater from their homeland.

A Love Story Full of Balkan Humor

The Serbian-Bosnian comedy follows a Serbian woman and a Bosniak man as they navigate married life. Their different backgrounds create funny situations that many couples will recognize.

However, the story goes beyond cultural differences. It also explores love, misunderstandings and the everyday challenges of relationships.

According to Serbian Times, Gicić first wrote the story in 2009, when he was just 18. He later adapted it into a comedy featuring two characters.

Gicić also spoke about his strong connection with Aksentijević on stage. Their chemistry, he explained, became clear during their first rehearsal.

As a result, the actors bring energy and humor to every performance. Their characters reflect the familiar arguments and funny moments of married life.

Where to Watch the Comedy in America

The comedy will visit two major American cities this November.

The first performance takes place in Chicago on Friday, November 20, at 8 p.m. The venue is the Irish American Heritage Center at 4626 North Knox Avenue.

Meanwhile, New York audiences can enjoy the show on Sunday, November 22, at 9 p.m. The performance will take place at The Cutting Room, 44 East 32nd Street in Manhattan.

Serbian Times is organizing both performances. Fans can purchase tickets through Eventbrite.

In addition, Gicić has mentioned a possible show in Miami on November 21. However, organizers have not confirmed that performance.

For Serbian, Bosnian and other Balkan communities, the comedy offers more than entertainment. It also brings familiar stories, language and humor to audiences far from home.
