U.S. Representative Ryan Mackenzie of Pennsylvania has joined the bipartisan and bicameral Congressional Macedonian Caucus, further expanding congressional engagement with the Macedonian-American community.
The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) announced Mackenzie’s decision to join the Caucus, welcoming the Pennsylvania congressman as its newest member.
“We welcome Representative Mackenzie to the Caucus. His decision to join reflects the importance of continued congressional engagement with the Macedonian-American community and the need to maintain a strong presence and voice in Washington, D.C.,” said Argie N. Bellio, Chairman of the United Macedonian Diaspora.
According to UMD, Mackenzie’s addition strengthens the Caucus as a platform for building relationships between Macedonian-Americans and policymakers in Washington and further broadens bipartisan congressional engagement with the community.
The Congressional Macedonian Caucus brings together members of the U.S. Congress interested in issues concerning Macedonia and the Macedonian-American community. Its current leadership includes Republican Representative Claudia Tenney and Democratic Representatives Brendan Boyle and Debbie Dingell, as well as Republican Representative Lisa McClain.
Mackenzie represents Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District. His decision to join the Caucus comes as UMD continues its efforts to strengthen the political representation and visibility of Macedonian-Americans in Washington.
UMD described the development as another step toward maintaining a strong Macedonian-American voice in the U.S. Congress and strengthening ties between the community and American policymakers.
