US President Donald Trump has blamed Islam and mass immigration for widespread student protests in France, despite demonstrators demanding better schools and education funding.

The Trump France protests controversy began after the American president posted his interpretation of the unrest on Truth Social on Tuesday, October 6.

“What’s happening in France is nothing less than out of control mass migration,” Trump wrote.

“This isn’t about schools, this is about Islam wanting to take over a once great Country!”

Trump provided no evidence linking the demonstrations to immigration or religious demands.

Meanwhile, French students have continued protesting against teacher shortages, overcrowded classrooms and deteriorating school buildings.

Why Are Students Protesting Across France?

The demonstrations began in September and quickly spread to hundreds of schools across France.

Students are demanding improved classroom conditions, more teachers and greater investment in public education.

Many schools have experienced disruptions as protesters block entrances and organize demonstrations.

Some protests have escalated into confrontations between demonstrators and police.

French authorities have reported thousands of arrests since the movement began. Several students and police officers have also suffered injuries.

On Thursday, October 8, demonstrations continued despite government promises to address the students’ concerns.

Education Minister Édouard Geffray has announced plans to improve teacher availability and review student schedules.

However, protesters say they want concrete improvements rather than general promises.

French officials have not established any connection between the student movement and Trump’s claims about Islam or migration.

Trump’s Comments Add to Political Tensions

Trump’s remarks come ahead of the November 3 US midterm elections, when immigration remains a major political issue.

The president has repeatedly criticized European immigration policies and warned about their impact on Western societies.

Several conservative commentators in the United States have also connected the French unrest to immigration.

However, protest organizers and education representatives describe the demonstrations as a response to longstanding problems in France’s school system.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot addressed the international reactions to the protests, emphasizing the importance of France presenting its own account of the situation.

Meanwhile, the French government faces growing pressure to improve school conditions and address allegations of excessive police force.

Authorities have temporarily suspended the use of stun grenades during school demonstrations following a serious injury to a teenage protester.

The protests have become a major political challenge for the French government.

As demonstrations continue, Trump’s comments have added an international dimension to a movement centered on education and public services.
