Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hopes to hold new Ukraine peace talks with Russia and the United States by early November. Kyiv supports Washington’s proposal for a meeting between negotiating teams, he said Wednesday.

His comments followed talks between U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg.

Zelenskyy said American officials had informed Kyiv that Moscow supports the proposed three-way meeting.

The Ukrainian president wants the talks to take place as soon as possible. However, the three countries have not agreed on a date.

Zelenskyy Supports New Ukraine Peace Talks

Zelenskyy said Ukraine remains in close contact with its American partners about the next round of negotiations.

According to Reuters, Washington wants to arrange the meeting without delay.

Zelenskyy welcomed that proposal and expressed hope that the talks could begin by early November.

He also outlined Ukraine’s priorities for a possible agreement.

Kyiv supports proposals for a ceasefire, an end to the war and a halt to attacks on energy infrastructure.

The Ukrainian government also backs humanitarian initiatives, including efforts to bring prisoners home.

Zelenskyy said the negotiating teams would work together to prepare the agenda.

Their discussions could also help prepare a future meeting between national leaders.

However, the president acknowledged that officials have yet to confirm the meeting’s final schedule.

Kremlin Signals Support for November Negotiations

Earlier Wednesday, the Kremlin announced that Putin had agreed in principle to resume U.S.-mediated talks with Ukraine.

Putin’s foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov, said Moscow could return to negotiations around November 10.

According to Ukrainska Pravda, Russia wants to discuss security arrangements for both countries after the war.

The Kremlin’s proposed timing differs from Zelenskyy’s preferred schedule.

Washington has not announced a final date or location for the talks.

The diplomatic developments came as Russian attacks continued in Ukraine.

On Wednesday evening, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that Russian ballistic missiles were targeting the Ukrainian capital.

The latest attacks highlighted the continuing violence despite renewed diplomatic efforts.

For now, Ukraine peace talks remain a possibility rather than a confirmed meeting.

Kyiv continues to press for an early start, while Moscow has signaled its willingness to negotiate later in November.
