Thomas Markle, the estranged father of Meghan Markle, is facing further allegations after claims made by his late former wife resurfaced amid reports of an investigation in the Philippines.
According to British newspaper The Sun, Roslyn Loveless, Markle’s first wife, sent a seven-page letter to London’s Metropolitan Police in 2019 detailing concerns about her former husband.
Loveless, who was married to Markle from 1965 to 1975, claimed he had made disturbing remarks about traveling to Southeast Asia.
The allegations have emerged alongside reports that Markle’s son, Thomas Markle Jr., contacted authorities after allegedly discovering material depicting child sexual abuse among his father’s belongings.
Thomas Markle Sr. has denied the allegations, describing them as “sick lies.”
Former Wife’s 2019 Letter Raises New Questions
In the letter reportedly sent to Scotland Yard, Loveless alleged that Markle had spoken about traveling to the Philippines and Thailand because of their laws concerning the age of sexual consent.
She claimed that Markle denied allegations of child sexual abuse when confronted.
The letter was reportedly sent to the Fixated Threat Assessment Centre, which assesses risks involving prominent public figures, including members of the British royal family.
According to the reports, Metropolitan Police officers shared the correspondence with Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry.
Loveless died in 2024.
At the time of the alleged remarks, the Philippines had an age of sexual consent of 12, although laws separately prohibited commercial sexual exploitation of minors. The country raised the age of consent to 16 in 2022.
The reported remarks have not been independently established as authentic, and they do not constitute proof of criminal conduct.
Meghan Markle Responds to Allegations Against Her Father
The latest reports follow claims by Thomas Markle Jr. that he discovered boxes containing suspected child sexual abuse material at his father’s residence in Cebu, Philippines.
He reportedly alerted Philippine investigators and contacted the FBI.
According to the account, the material included photographs and videos allegedly depicting minors.
Philippine authorities have reportedly been examining the allegations. The findings and legal status of any investigation require independent confirmation.
Meghan Markle, who has been estranged from her father for several years, addressed the controversy in a statement reported by Page Six.
She said she had previously received information about disturbing allegations involving her father and had been assured that authorities would investigate.
Meghan also explained that her decision to distance herself from him and prevent contact with her children was motivated by concerns for their protection.
She expressed hope that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and that the safety of children would remain the priority.
“My thoughts are with all the children who may have been harmed,” she said.
Thomas Markle Sr. continues to deny the accusations. No finding of guilt has been established in the information cited in these reports.
