The Turkish powerhouse is reportedly in advanced negotiations with the Canadian center, who could sign a one-year contract after 13 seasons in the NBA.
Turkish basketball giant Fenerbahçe is reportedly close to securing a major addition from the NBA, with Canadian center Dwight Powell nearing a one-year deal with the club.
According to BasketNews, negotiations between the Istanbul-based team and the experienced big man are in their final stages.
13 Seasons in the NBA
Powell has spent 13 years in the NBA, with most of his professional career coming with the Dallas Mavericks, where he played alongside Slovenian superstar Luka Dončić.
The two developed an effective pick-and-roll partnership, with Powell frequently finishing Dončić’s passes with powerful dunks around the basket.
During his NBA career, Powell appeared in 768 games, averaging 6.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest.
Last season, he recorded averages of 3.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in approximately 14 minutes per game.
First European Basketball Experience
Powell has never played professional basketball in Europe. A move to Fenerbahçe would therefore mark a new chapter in his career.
His potential arrival would give the Turkish club valuable NBA experience, physical presence and additional strength in the paint as it looks to remain competitive at the highest level of European basketball.
