Serbian karate athlete Andrija Vasic, from the town of Raca near Kragujevac, has become a two-time world champion after winning two gold medals at the 23rd World Traditional Karate Championship in Cairo, Egypt.
According to Serbian Times, Vasic claimed gold in both kata and kihon ippon kumite, securing two world titles at the international competition.
The achievement represents a major milestone for the young athlete and his karate club, Aleksandra Raca, which he represented at the championship.
Two Gold Medals in Cairo
Vasic demonstrated his skills in two different disciplines of traditional karate.
In kata, competitors perform a predetermined sequence of techniques, with judges evaluating precision, balance, timing and technical execution.
Kihon ippon kumite, meanwhile, is a structured form of sparring in which competitors demonstrate controlled attacks and defensive techniques.
By winning gold in both categories, Vasic achieved a double victory at the world championship.
His success reflects years of training, discipline and commitment to the sport.
A Major Achievement for a Small Serbian Town
Vasic’s victory has particular significance for Raca, a small town in central Serbia near Kragujevac.
Representing Karate Club Aleksandra Raca, he has brought international recognition to his hometown and local sporting community.
His achievement also highlights the opportunities available to athletes training outside Serbia’s largest cities.
For Serbian communities abroad, the double gold medal victory offers another example of young athletes representing their homeland successfully on the international stage.
With two world championship titles secured in Cairo, Andrija Vasic has delivered a memorable result for Serbian traditional karate.
