Renowned Albanian-American photographer Fadil Berisha has received international recognition at a ceremony in Vatican City, marking another milestone in a career that has connected American fashion photography with Albanian cultural heritage.
Berisha was presented with a Certificate of Distinguished Recognition as a special guest at the IASC World Changers Summit 2026, held on October 22 at Casina Pio IV.
The summit, titled The Multiverse of Trust, brought together participants involved in cultural dialogue, cooperation and social initiatives.
The recognition was presented by the Institute for Advanced Studies and Cooperation (IASC) in acknowledgment of Berisha’s support for the summit’s mission.
Fadil Berisha Recognized for His International Contributions
The certificate bears the signature of Professor Gabriele Pao-Pei Andreoli, president of IASC and founder of the World Changers Summit.
According to a report published by Bota Sot, Berisha expressed gratitude to the organizers and reflected on the significance of receiving recognition at an international gathering.
The honor carries particular meaning for a photographer whose work has documented not only celebrities and fashion icons but also important moments in the history of the Albanian-American community.
Based in New York City, Berisha has established an international reputation through portrait and fashion photography.
His professional career includes work with major international brands, publications and public figures. He has also served as an official photographer for Miss Universe and Miss USA.
The institute describes him as its World Changers Ambassador of Creativity, Dignity and Social Change, a role connected to educational initiatives, visual arts and intercultural dialogue.
Beyond commercial photography, Berisha has consistently supported projects that promote Albanian culture and create opportunities for emerging artists.
From Kosovo to New York and the International Stage
Born in Kosovo in 1960, Berisha moved to the United States as a child after spending time in Italy.
He developed an interest in fashion and photography while growing up between different cultural environments.
According to Albania’s National Agency of the Diaspora, his professional development was influenced by photographer Donna DeMari, who encouraged his artistic ambitions.
After gaining experience in fashion styling in Italy, Berisha returned to New York in 1982 and began building his career as a fashion and beauty photographer.
Over the following decades, he became a familiar name in the international photography industry.
His portfolio has included portraits of prominent figures from entertainment, fashion, sports and public life.
However, his connection to the Albanian community has remained a significant part of his professional identity.
Berisha has used his photography to document cultural events, public gatherings and important moments for Albanians living in the United States.
His work has also contributed to the international visibility of Albanian artists and public figures.
In July 2026, Berisha led a photography masterclass at the Rame Lahaj International Opera Festival in Kosovo, sharing his experience with emerging photographers.
The program focused on portrait photography, lighting, composition and the development of an individual artistic style.
For the Albanian-American community, his recognition at the Vatican City event represents another international achievement by an artist whose career began with an immigrant family’s journey to America.
It also reflects the growing visibility of Balkan-American professionals who have built successful careers while maintaining strong connections to their cultural heritage.
Berisha’s recognition was awarded by IASC during its Vatican City summit, rather than as an official Vatican or papal honor.
