The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) held a working meeting with North Macedonia’s Minister of Health, Azir Aliu, focusing on strengthening cooperation between the healthcare system and the Macedonian diaspora. During the meeting, both sides discussed opportunities to improve the national healthcare sector through active engagement and support from Macedonians living abroad. UMD also confirmed a new donation of medical equipment to be delivered by the end of the year, underscoring the diaspora’s continued commitment to contributing to healthcare development in the country.
The meeting centered on practical ways in which diaspora professionals and organizations can support and enhance the healthcare system in North Macedonia. Participants explored avenues for collaboration aimed at advancing medical services and reinforcing institutional capacity through international connections.
A key outcome of the discussion was the confirmation of this year’s medical equipment donation by UMD. The organization announced that the equipment will be provided before the end of the year, describing the initiative as another concrete demonstration of the diaspora’s strong ties to their homeland.
