A tragic accident unfolded early this morning on the Una River near Hrvatska Kostajnica, where a boat carrying migrants overturned, leaving at least one person dead and others missing.
According to authorities, police officers monitoring the state border around 4:45 a.m. heard cries for help coming from the river near the Rosulje area. Patrol units were immediately dispatched, and additional emergency services were called to the scene.
Rescue teams have so far located one male survivor and recovered the body of an unidentified man. Officials believe several people were on board at the time of the accident, though the exact number remains unclear.
The search operation is ongoing, involving police officers and members of the Croatian Coast Guard, who are using boats and drones to scan the river and surrounding terrain.
The Sisak-Moslavina Police Administration confirmed that those involved were migrants. Emergency medical teams, police, and other authorities remain on site as efforts continue to locate the missing.
