The U.S. Embassy in Iraq has issued a new security alert, warning that Iran-linked armed groups have carried out “widespread” attacks targeting American citizens and U.S.-related facilities across the country, including in the Kurdish region.
In its statement, the embassy urged U.S. citizens to leave Iraq and to avoid the embassy in Baghdad and the consulate in Erbil, citing ongoing threats from rockets, drones, and missiles.
Travelers were advised to use overland routes to Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, as Iraqi airspace remains closed, according to Tanjug.
