Former CIA Analyst Warns of Politicization of U.S. Military

Former Central Intelligence Agency analyst Larry Johnson has claimed that the United States military is becoming increasingly politicized, warning that it risks shifting away from its primary role of defending the country toward serving the interests of individual political figures.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Johnson argued that the armed forces are beginning to resemble a “praetorian guard” rather than a conventional military institution. According to him, this trend has developed over multiple administrations, including those of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Donald Trump.

He described the situation as highly concerning, suggesting that increasing political influence within the military could undermine its stability and effectiveness.

Johnson also commented on recent claims regarding tensions involving Iran, including reports that Iranian forces had downed U.S. military aircraft. He argued that such developments challenge narratives portraying Iran as fully weakened.

“This serves as a reminder that the story of Iran’s total defeat is not entirely accurate,” Johnson said.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Washington and Tehran are engaged in discussions over a potential 45-day ceasefire. However, according to sources familiar with the talks, the likelihood of reaching an agreement in the near term remains uncertain.
