Budva to Host 2026 U19 World Boxing Championships

Budva will host the 2026 U19 World Boxing Championships from 14 to 28 October, after Montenegro won the right to stage the event through a successful bid submitted by the Boxing Association of Montenegro. The decision was made by World Boxing’s Executive Board following a competitive selection process that included bids from several national federations.

The tournament will be held at the Mediterranean Sports Center and will mark the first time Montenegro has staged an event from the official World Boxing competition calendar. World Boxing said the award reflects confidence in Montenegro’s ability to organize a major international boxing competition at youth level.

World Boxing Secretary General Tom Dielen congratulated the Montenegrin federation on its bid and said the organization looked forward to working together on what it expects to be a high-level event in Budva. The president of the Boxing Association of Montenegro, Alexander Klemenko, described the decision as important news for boxing in the country and said the aim is to turn Budva into a focal point of world Olympic boxing during the championship.

The competition in Budva will be the second edition of the U19 World Boxing Championships. It follows the inaugural tournament held in Colorado, United States, in October and November 2024, which was the first global championship organized by World Boxing.

The championship adds another major event to Montenegro’s growing boxing calendar and gives Budva a prominent place in the international youth boxing schedule for 2026.
