Dario Ivanovski Finishes Runner-Up at Belgrade Marathon

Macedonian marathon runner Dario Ivanovski delivered another strong performance on the international stage, finishing second in the men’s race at the Belgrade Marathon after clocking 2:09:35 in a highly competitive field.

Ivanovski crossed the line just 24 seconds behind Ethiopia’s Gada Gemsisa Gudeta, who won the race in 2:09:11 and set a new Belgrade Marathon record in the process. The previous course record had stood since April 22, 2006, when Kenya’s Japhet Kosgei ran 2:10:54 in the Serbian capital.

Third place went to Kenya’s Johan Erot, who finished 44 seconds behind the winner.

The result underlines Ivanovski’s strong form ahead of upcoming major international competitions. His second-place finish was particularly notable given the depth of the field, as he finished ahead of four Kenyan runners who placed from third to sixth, along with several other well-established African marathoners who filled the top positions through 14th place.

In the women’s race, Ethiopia’s Eden Alemu Dadi claimed victory with a time of 2:30:22. Kenya’s Ruth Chepkoech finished second, 45 seconds behind the winner, while fellow Kenyan Caroline Chebichi took third, 59 seconds off the pace.
