Tennis fans will once again have the opportunity to see Roger Federer on the court, as the Swiss legend is set to return to the US Open for a special exhibition event later this summer. The appearance will mark his first return to Flushing Meadows since 2019 and one of his most significant public appearances since retiring from professional tennis in 2022.

The event, titled “Roger Federer: An Icon Returns to New York”, will take place on August 25 at the iconic Arthur Ashe Stadium. Federer will share the court with several other tennis greats, including Andy Roddick, Andre Agassi, and John McEnroe, in what is expected to be a celebration of one of the most successful careers in the history of the sport.

Few players have left a greater mark on the US Open than Federer. The Swiss star remains the only player to have won five consecutive US Open titles, dominating the tournament between 2004 and 2008 and helping define an era of modern tennis.

Federer described the tournament as one of the most meaningful stops of his career, recalling the unforgettable moments he experienced in New York and the unique atmosphere created by fans at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The exhibition comes just days before Federer’s induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, adding further significance to what is shaping up to be a memorable week celebrating his legacy.

Although it will not be a competitive comeback, Federer’s return is expected to be one of the highlights of the tennis calendar, giving fans a rare chance to once again watch one of the sport’s greatest icons perform on one of its grandest stages.
