Cedevita Olimpija has officially announced the signing of Canadian guard Noah Kirkwood, who joins the Ljubljana-based club after a strong season with Śląsk Wrocław.
Kirkwood, 26, signed a one-year contract with the Slovenian side and is expected to bring versatility, experience and leadership to the team ahead of the new season. Last season in the EuroCup, he averaged 12.7 points, 4.4 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game for Śląsk.
Cedevita Olimpija sporting director Chechu Mulero welcomed the signing, saying the club is pleased to add a player who can contribute in several areas.
“We are very happy that Noah is joining us. He is a player who can help the team in many different ways. With his intelligence, European experience and team-first mentality, he fits perfectly into our vision for the roster next season,” Mulero said.
Before his time in Poland, Kirkwood played in the Basketball Champions League for Saint-Quentin in France and Bonn in Germany. He began his professional career in the NBA G League.
Kirkwood has also represented Canada at youth level and was part of the Canadian U19 national team that won the 2017 FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to play for a club like Cedevita Olimpija,” Kirkwood said. “I played against them in the EuroCup last season and really liked their style of play. I had a great time in Wrocław, and I have heard great things about Ljubljana, so I am looking forward to exploring the city.”
With Kirkwood’s arrival, Cedevita Olimpija continues to build its roster for the upcoming season, adding a guard with international experience and proven production in European competition.
