The United Kingdom has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina following a high level visit to the headquarters of the European Union Force (EUFOR) at Camp Butmir in Sarajevo. The British delegation, led by Minister of State for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty, met with EUFOR Commander Major General Maurizio Fronda to discuss the country’s current security situation and the importance of continued international cooperation in preserving regional stability.
The talks focused on the evolving security environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans, with both sides emphasizing the need for close coordination between international partners and domestic institutions. Officials reaffirmed their shared objective of supporting Bosnian authorities in maintaining a safe and secure environment while strengthening cooperation through regular dialogue and joint efforts. He noted that cooperation between EUFOR, the United Kingdom, and other international partners remains essential as Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to face political and security challenges. Although the United Kingdom is no longer a member of the European Union, it continues to work closely with European allies and NATO partners on security issues across the Western Balkans, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to regional stability.
