Novak Djokovic turned the opening ceremony of the new Dodig Tennis Center in Međugorje into a memorable celebration, entertaining thousands of fans with his tennis skills, humor and unexpected musical performance.
The Serbian tennis champion joined Mate Pavić for an exhibition doubles match against Ivan Dodig and Marin Čilić as part of the official opening event. While the match featured some competitive moments, the focus was not on the result but on creating a fun experience for the crowd.
Djokovic quickly became the center of attention, showing his trademark energy and personality throughout the event. He impressed fans with his shot making, joked with his opponents, reacted playfully to calls from the officials and kept the atmosphere lively from start to finish.
The 24 time Grand Slam champion also surprised the audience by singing during the event, earning cheers and applause from the crowd. His playful comments and interactions with Dodig and Čilić added even more excitement to the celebration.
Djokovic joked that he was unable to throw his opponents off their game, admitting that Dodig and Čilić remained focused despite his attempts to distract them.
The event was attended by several notable guests, including Djokovic’s former coach and tennis legend Boris Becker.
The appearance marked Djokovic’s return to the court after his Wimbledon campaign ended in the semifinals, where he was defeated by current world number one Jannik Sinner.
The newly opened Dodig Tennis Center spans approximately 25,000 square meters and features six courts, including a main stadium court that can accommodate around 2,000 spectators. The Dodig family plans to develop the facility into a major destination for young tennis players and an international venue for future tournaments.
