The latest water quality testing along Montenegro’s coastline found that the country’s beaches continue to offer clean and safe conditions for swimmers, with the vast majority of testing sites receiving the highest possible rating.
According to the Public Enterprise for Coastal Zone Management, 88.6% of monitored locations recorded excellent water quality. Another 2.6% were rated as good, while the remaining 8.8% received a satisfactory rating. Officials said all tested locations met health standards for swimming and recreational activities.
Budva recorded some of the strongest results. Of the 34 beaches included in the monitoring program, 33 received an excellent rating, while one was classified as good.
In Ulcinj, 14 of the 18 monitored locations achieved excellent water quality, with the remaining four rated as satisfactory.
Bar also performed well, with excellent water quality reported at 12 of its 15 testing sites. The other three locations received satisfactory ratings.
Testing in Tivat, located in the Bay of Kotor, found excellent water quality at eight of the 10 monitored beaches. One location was rated good, while another received a satisfactory classification.
In neighboring Kotor, water quality was rated excellent at 14 monitored locations, with one site receiving a satisfactory rating.
Officials said the results confirm that Montenegro’s coastal waters remain suitable for swimming throughout the summer season, providing visitors with safe conditions at the country’s most popular beaches.
