The Macedonia Men’s U20 national handball team wrapped up their European Championship campaign in Romania with a tough loss. In their final match of the tournament, the Macedonian youth squad fell to Serbia with a final score of 34 to 30.
Aside from a brief tie early in the game at 3 to 3, the Serbian team dominated the matchup. Serbia built a commanding lead that peaked at nine goals and went into halftime ahead by eight, leading 20 to 12.
Allowing 20 goals in just a single half highlighted defensive struggles for Macedonia. Serbia efficiently capitalized on their lead, ultimately securing the four goal victory.
Led by head coach Igor Ilievski, the Macedonian team concluded the tournament in 20th place. The team managed just two victories across their eight tournament games.
Looking ahead, the next major event for these rising handball prospects will be the U21 World Championship next year. Macedonia is set to host that tournament.
