According to official statements from the airline, flight crew followed standard emergency procedures and safely diverted the aircraft to the nearest suitable airport. All passengers and crew members landed safely with no reported injuries.
The incident gained widespread attention after a passenger from Serbia shared account details and visuals of the ordeal, describing moments of sudden panic and atmospheric pressure changes inside the cabin when the window cracked.
While glass damage on commercial airliners is rare, aviation experts note that modern aircraft windows are constructed with multiple reinforced layers of stretched acrylic and tempered glass. These layers are designed to maintain cabin pressure and structural integrity even if the outermost layer sustains severe damage or shattering from external impacts like bird strikes or high velocity debris.
