Serbian students are expanding their nationwide “Student in Every Village” initiative by visiting rural communities and speaking directly with residents about their concerns and everyday challenges. The Student in Every Village initiative aims to connect young people with citizens outside major cities through direct conversations and community visits.
The latest activities are planned in Gornja Trnava and Čumić near Kragujevac, where students will meet with local residents and discuss issues affecting people living in smaller communities. Organizers say the goal is to listen to citizens, exchange ideas and better understand problems that often receive less attention in national discussions. The initiative focuses on personal conversations rather than traditional public events. Students say visiting villages allows them to hear different perspectives and build stronger connections with people who are often separated from wider social and public debates.
During previous visits across Serbia, participants held meetings with residents in local communities and private homes. They say these discussions provide insight into local challenges and help young people better understand the experiences of citizens outside urban areas. The campaign has already reached several villages around Kragujevac and other parts of Serbia, with students emphasizing the importance of including rural communities in public conversations.
Organizers describe the project as an opportunity for open dialogue and learning directly from residents. The Student in Every Village initiative comes amid broader discussions about the role of young people in Serbian society and their participation in public issues. By traveling beyond city centers, students hope to bring attention to local concerns and create a stronger connection between different parts of the country.
