Rubio and Miliband Discuss Ukraine War and Europe’s Security Role

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband discussed the importance of Europe taking a greater role in its own security during a meeting in Washington, the U.S. Department of State announced.

Rubio told reporters that Ukraine was also high on the agenda during the talks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has intensified his appeals to allies for additional air defense missiles as Russia continues to increase its ballistic missile attacks across Ukraine.

During the meeting, Miliband stressed that Ukraine’s security is inseparable from European and transatlantic security. He also reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to stand with Ukraine for as long as necessary.

The discussions reflected ongoing coordination between Washington and London on European security, military assistance for Ukraine, and the broader response to Russia’s continued aggression.
