NOTICE ON REGISTRATION FOR VOTING ABROAD

Early elections for members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia have been scheduled for October 25, 2026.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Chicago informs Serbian citizens residing within its consular jurisdiction about the procedure for registering to vote abroad.

Ex-President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić issued the decision calling elections for members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, scheduled for October 25, 2026.
The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government of the Republic of Serbia has issued information for voters residing abroad regarding the exercise of their voting rights.

Serbian citizens residing in the United States are invited to submit a request to the nearest diplomatic or consular mission of the Republic of Serbia in order to vote abroad.

Applications may be submitted no later than five (5) days before the deadline for closing the Unified Voter Registry, by midnight on October 3, 2026, Serbia local time, or by 5:00 p.m. Chicago local time.

Please note that, under Serbian regulations, citizens wishing to vote abroad in elections for members of the National Assembly must submit a new application, regardless of whether they registered to vote abroad in previous elections. More info below.

Completed and signed forms, together with a copy of a valid passport or ID card, or a scanned electronic ID card with a chip, must be submitted to the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Chicago by:

  • Email: izbori.cikago2026@mfa.rs
  • Mail: General Consulate of the Republic of Serbia, 201 E Ohio St, Suite 200, Chicago, IL 60611
  • In person: Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

If submitting the application by mail, the Consulate requests that the mailing arrive at the Consulate no later than Saturday, October 3, 2026, by 4:00 p.m. Chicago local time (11:00 p.m. Serbia time) to allow sufficient time for the application to be entered into the system.

If submitting the application electronically, the Consulate requests that all required documentation be scanned and attached to the email as a PDF file. Photographs of documents in any format are not considered sufficiently suitable for this procedure.
Serbian citizens who are not registered in the Unified Voter Registry should also submit an Application for Registration in the Unified Voter Registry along with their application to vote abroad.
