Serbian paragliders returned from the European Championship in Romania with two major achievements. Ivan Pavlov won an individual silver medal, while Serbia’s national team secured bronze in the team competition.
The ninth FAI European Paragliding Accuracy Championship took place from October 2 to 9 in Uroi, near Simeria, Romania.
Athletes from 19 countries competed in the event. Serbia finished third in the team standings, while Pavlov claimed second place among 90 competitors.
Ivan Pavlov Becomes European Runner-Up
Ivan Pavlov delivered Serbia’s strongest individual result at the championship. He earned the silver medal in the accuracy landing competition and finished as European runner-up.
Paragliding accuracy requires pilots to land as close as possible to a small target. Even minor differences in landing position can affect the final standings.
The competition tested the athletes across 12 rounds. Each round required careful control and precise landings.
Pavlov maintained a strong performance throughout the event. His final result placed him among Europe’s leading paragliding accuracy competitors.
Meanwhile, Serbia also achieved success in the junior category.
Lazar Marjanovic finished fourth among junior competitors. He also placed 21st in the overall individual standings.
His performance added another positive result for the Serbian national team.
Serbia Secures Team Bronze Against 19 Nations
Serbia competed with six athletes at the European Championship.
The national team included Andjela Krstevski, Lazar Marjanovic, Dejan Valek, Ivan Pavlov, Milos Timotic and Goran Djurkovic.
Together, they earned third place in the team standings.
The result came after 12 demanding rounds of competition. Serbia’s pilots had to maintain consistent performances throughout the championship.
Accuracy landing differs from other paragliding disciplines because pilots compete for precision rather than speed or distance.
Competitors must carefully control their approach and landing. The goal is to touch down as close as possible to the center of a designated target.
As a result, small mistakes can change the rankings.
Serbia’s bronze medal reflects the team’s performance against competitors from across Europe.
The championship in Romania brought together experienced pilots and younger athletes. For the Serbian team, it ended with two podium finishes and a fourth-place junior result.
Pavlov’s silver medal and Serbia’s team bronze mark a successful European Championship campaign for Serbian paragliding.
