A night of Balkan music and traditional dancing is coming to Kingston, New York, on Thursday, October 22, 2026.

The MacNCheez Balkan Power Trio will perform at Unicorn Bar, bringing musical traditions from Macedonia and neighboring countries to audiences in the Hudson Valley.

The event will feature live instrumental music and group dancing. In addition, visitors can participate in a dance lesson before the evening’s main festivities.

Organizers hope to create a welcoming atmosphere where people can experience Balkan musical traditions together.

Macedonian and Balkan Music Comes to Kingston

The MacNCheez Balkan Power Trio performs music influenced by traditions across southeastern Europe.

Its repertoire includes melodies from Macedonia, Serbia, Albania and Bulgaria. Greek and Turkish musical traditions are also part of the group’s performances.

Moreover, the musicians draw inspiration from Roma and Ottoman cultural influences.

These musical styles have long been associated with weddings, community celebrations and traditional village festivals.

The trio brings these sounds to American audiences through its own interpretations.

The ensemble features Tim Allen on saxophone and Matthew “Max” Fass on accordion. Johanna Dun completes the group on percussion.

Together, the musicians combine traditional Balkan melodies with their individual performing styles.

Their appearances throughout the Hudson Valley introduce regional musical traditions to audiences who may be discovering them for the first time.

At the same time, the performances offer listeners familiar with Balkan culture an opportunity to reconnect with its music.

The Balkan Music Night will take place at Unicorn Bar, located at 224 Foxhall Avenue in Kingston, New York.
