Canadian authorities are investigating after gunfire was reported outside the United States Consulate in downtown Toronto, marking the second shooting at the diplomatic building this year. No injuries were reported, but investigators confirmed that the building sustained minor damage.
According to Toronto police, a security officer heard a gunshot early Monday morning. Officers responding to the scene recovered a shell casing and found evidence that at least one shot had been fired at the consulate. A white sedan was seen leaving the area shortly after the incident.
Police launched a search for the suspect vehicle, but no arrests have been made and investigators have not yet determined a motive. Authorities from both Canada and the United States are cooperating as the investigation continues.
This is the second attack targeting the U.S. Consulate in Toronto in 2026. In March, multiple shots were fired at the same building, prompting increased security around U.S. and Israeli diplomatic missions in the city. Several suspects were later arrested in connection with that case.
The U.S. Consulate remains open, although some consular services have been rescheduled while authorities continue their investigation. Officials have condemned the latest attack and vowed to identify those responsible.
