Boris Rutović Wins World Judo Bronze as Serbia Claims Third Medal in Baku

Serbian judoka Boris Rutović won a bronze medal in the men’s 90kg category at the World Judo Championships in Baku, securing Serbia’s third medal of the tournament.

Rutović earned his place on the podium after defeating France’s Maxime-Gaël Ngayap Hambou in the bronze medal contest, according to Serbian Times.

The result added another achievement to Serbia’s campaign at the international competition.

Boris Rutović Secures Bronze After Strong Tournament Run

Rutović began his campaign with a victory over Egor Andoni of Russia.

He then defeated Georgia’s Luka Maisuradze and Moldova’s Mihail Latisev to advance further in the competition.

In the quarterfinals, the Serbian judoka overcame Japan’s Goki Tajima, securing a place in the semifinals.

His bid for the final ended with a defeat against Aleksa Mitrović, who represents France.

However, Rutović recovered from the setback and delivered a winning performance against Ngayap Hambou to secure the bronze medal.

His result was one of several strong performances by Serbian athletes in Baku.

Serbia Collects Three Medals at World Judo Championships

Nemanja Majdov also competed for Serbia in the men’s 90kg category.

He reached a bronze medal contest but lost to Azerbaijan’s Murad Fatiyev, narrowly missing a place on the podium.

In the women’s 70kg category, Aleksandra Andrić recorded four victories before losing her semifinal.

She subsequently faced Madina Taimazova in the bronze medal contest but was unable to secure a medal.

Rutović’s bronze followed two earlier Serbian podium finishes at the championships.

Marica Perišić earned bronze in the women’s 57kg category, while Mihajlo Simin claimed bronze in the men’s 81kg division.

Together, the three medals marked a successful tournament for the Serbian team.
